Six days of walk all around Gardena Valley, discovering the most famous mountain massifs of the Dolomites. We’ll pass through Odle, Sella and Langkofel, then we’ll climb Plattkofel (2,969 m; 9,741 ft) and Schleren. The end of the walk will be in the endless pastures of Seiser Alm. A Tour that will steal your heart!
We’ll meet in Ortisei (St. Ulrich) at half past nine a.m. at the Rasciesa station. We’ll use this cable railway to climb up an then we’ll walk with little differences in altitude at the footsteps of the beautiful Odle massif. These are the mountains where the world famous mountaineer Reinhold Messner started to climb.
About 14 km and 5 hours of walk, with 800 meters up and 600 meters down. Dinner, night and breakfast: Schlüterhütte (2,303 meters).
From the hut we’ll follow the famous Alta Via 2 (one of the two walking ways that cross Dolomites) through steep rock towers till Forcella Roa (2,619 m). With some up and down and some parts with iron cables we’ll enter in the Puez massif and Natural Park.
About 13 km and 6 hours of walk, with 950 meters up and 750 meters down. Dinner, night and breakfast: Puezhütte (2,481 meters).
A day on the Moon! We’ll begin walking in the Gardenaccia wide rocky plateaus, passing by little lakes and through narrow cols. Always following Alta Via 2, we’ll go down to Gardena Pass, with road, hotels and cars, but we’ll run away immediately, don’t worry! So we’ll climb up into the Sella massif, passing also some rocks with fixed cables, till Pisciadù lake and mountain hut.
About 10 km and 5 hours of walk, with 800 meters up and 700 meters down. Dinner, night and breakfast: Pisciadù mountain hut (2,585 meters).

We’ll leave the most part of our back pack at the hut and climb to the top of Plattkofel (2,958 m)! The path is steep and sometimes we’ll need to put our hands on the rocks, but the view from up there worth it: it’s the highest point in our Tour. Then we’ll go back to the hut and follow a wide ridge till the footsteps of Schleren massif.
About 11 km and 5 ½ hours of walk, with 1,000 meters up and 850 meters down. Dinner, night and breakfast: Tierser Alp mountain hut (2,305 m).
Scleren is a beautiful and famous mountain: a wide plateau with two steep rock towers at the end. CLOTHING AND EQUIPMENT: Good sturdy walking shoes are necessary (we do not recommend using new shoes, that could hurt!). Clothing should be comfortable, warm or cool depending on the temperature: we advise dressing in layers (underwear T-shirt, longsleeved shirt, fleece) with technical material which dries quickly. A good backpack is essential, a waterproof jacket and overpants, gloves and warm hat, sunglasses and cream, a water bottle, emergency food (some energy bars) and something to eat for lunch on the first day. Also do not forget the need for personal hygiene, wet wipes, a towel, a sheet bag and a little electric torch. Telescopic trekking poles, a little umbrella and gaiters are recommended. We suggest to pack everything in waterproof plastic bags.
